In June 2018, Weihai Port Shipping and Barging Co., Ltd. was fully established, mainly engaged in port tugboat and barge transportation services. The company currently owns and operates a total of 7 tugboats, including "Wei Xiao Tuo 1", "Wei Gang Hang Tuo 8", "Wei Gang Hang Tuo 10", "Wei Gang Hang Tuo 12", "Wei Gang Hang Tuo 20", "Lv Gang Tuo 1", and "Hang Tuo 1", as well as 2 dredgers, "Wei Jun 1" and "Wei Jun 2".

The company's newly built 5600 horsepower "Wei Xiao Tuo 1" tugboat was put into use in September 2022. It is a fully rotating and classified firefighting tugboat with FIFI-I fire protection function and a tail towing machine, approved by CCS classification society. The towing force can reach 62 tons, and the hourly water output within an effective range of 125 meters can reach 2800 cubic meters. This tugboat is the first fire tugboat inspected and classified by CCS classification society in Weihai jurisdiction. After being put into use, it effectively alleviated the situation of no regular maritime firefighting tugboats in the jurisdiction of Weihai, effectively improved the emergency response capability of Weihai to deal with maritime emergencies, and provided necessary safety guarantees for more than 100000 transit and entry/exit ships in Weihai every year.

While serving surrounding ports and major shipyards, actively participating in the rescue work of maritime emergencies in Weihai jurisdiction has received high praise from local governments, maritime authorities, and rescued ships.  

The company also has two cutter suction dredgers, "Weijun 1" and "Weijun 2", as well as two supporting anchor boats, "Weijun 1" and "Weijun 2". The two dredgers have reamer powers of 800KW and 1200KW, maximum dredging depths of 18 meters and 25 meters, and dredging volumes of 2200m ³/hour and 3500m ³/hour, respectively. Since its establishment, the company has participated in dredging and hydraulic reclamation operations at Tianjin Port and Huanghua Port, and completed dredging operations at its own dock, Weihai Nanhai New Port, with a dredging volume of 3 million cubic meters.

The cutter suction dredger is one of the essential equipment for port construction and dredging. The working principle of the cutter suction dredger is mainly to excavate and transport sediment through the synergistic effect of the cutter and the mud pump. The suction dredger is equipped with a cutter, which rotates to loosen the soil on the riverbed or seabed and mix it with water and mud to form a slurry. Then the mud is sucked into the pump body through the suction pipe and transported to the designated discharge area through the discharge pipe.

The main feature of a cutter suction dredger is the installation of a rotatable cutter head at the bow and two positioning piles at the stern. During the construction process, the main positioning pile at the stern is inserted into the seabed to fix the ship. The bow throws two positioning anchors to both sides of the ship, which are connected to the cutter through steel cables. Then, the cutter at the bow is placed on the seabed, and the cutter swings left and right under the pull of the anchor machine. The entire hull is fan-shaped around the positioning pile at the stern for cutter suction operation. The cutter is driven by an electric or hydraulic mechanism and has strong torque, which can easily crush the seabed rocks and stir up the sand. The silt material is then transported to the designated area by a high-power underwater dredging pump through a suction pipe.
